The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) is the body which distributes a share of the income from the National Lottery to projects aimed at preserving and making accessible the nation's heritage. The St James Street area has also benefitted from a £1million grant from the Big Lottery Fund as part of the nationwide Big Local initiative. The Mill is a community-run neighbourhood hub whose mission is to provide a welcoming, positive, accessible and inclusive space at the heart of Walthamstow, and work with the community locally to make things happen. The Mill was commissioned to assist with coordination and development of the community engagement activities to complement the physical works, and is hosting the Project Hub which provides project information to the local community and general public, promoting events and activities in relation to the scheme and how people can get involved in the scheme.
